GET MICHELLE'S LUNAR NEW YEAR LOOK!

It’s that time of year again! The time to enjoy traditional dishes, celebrate, reunite (virtually this year) with your loved ones and embrace new beginnings! Lunar New Year is an annual 15 day celebration that falls on the second new moon after the winter solstice on December 21st. This year it is on February 12th and marks the beginning of the Year of the Ox. The Ox is the second animal of the Chinese zodiac and represents the following personality traits: hardworking, diligent, gentle, reliable and patient. This year is about doing your best and enjoying the rewards for all your hard work! During this holiday, you may notice that many people are wearing red, this is because it is the color that symbolizes luck, prosperity and happiness! To celebrate this holiday, EM has curated a Lunar New Year collection of some of our favorite red and warm hues.

GET MICHELLE'S LOOK

Let’s start with the eyes— to compliment the beautiful reds, we’re going to take Divine Skies in Faded Clementine and apply the shade Nostalgia with a flat brush to the inner half of the lid. Next, with the same brush take the shade Sweet Memory and apply to the outer half of your lid and slightly angle the edges up towards your temple. To achieve a sharp line like Michelle, take a q-tip with a little makeup remover and clean up the edges. To finish the look, apply eyeliner in your inner corners to elongate your eyes and finish the look with a wing. We suggest our Felt Tip Illustrative Eyeliner for this look.

For dewy, blushed cheeks use our Color Drops Serum Blush in Cherry Splash. A little goes a long way with this product, so you only need one drop for both cheeks! Our favorite way to apply is by simply using your fingers to tap the product into your skin, but you can also use a brush in a dabbing motion. If you prefer a more matte finish, you can set the blush with your go-to translucent powder.

Lastly, to finish the look with a bold pop of color, Michelle applied True Gloss in Scarlett Knight for a true red lip with lacquer like shine. Depending on your preference you could opt to use True Gloss in Ruby Wine for a bright burgundy or our Infinite Lip Clouds for a matte finish. We have Love, an orange red, or Red Divine, which is a classic red. All beautiful statement lips to bring in the New Year.

No matter the look you choose to wear, we wish you all peace, health and prosperity this year!
